Spanish newspaper and website Marca has bad news for Chelsea and Manchester United suggesting Gerard Pique has never considered leaving Barcelona.
The Spanish centre back has been linked with moves to both Premier League giants after an inconsistent spell at Barca under new head coach Luis Enrique this season.
Enrique has preferred to use other options in the middle of his defence and has even left Pique out of his match day squad on more than one occasion.
That’s created speculation of a return to the Premier League for the Spaniard but Marca has moved to end speculation over his future with some definitive claims.
“The word we have had from the 27-year-old's camp is quite the opposite, suggesting the Catalan has never considered leaving Barça and is fully focused on regaining his spot in the side,” reports Marca.
This isn’t the first time that a report from the Spanish press has claimed Pique’s commitment to the Barcelona cause and suggests that Chelsea and United could be wasting time trying to do deals for him this winter.
His commitment to Barca probably affects his old club United more than Chelsea because of the defensive problems Louis van Gaal’s side have been forced to endure throughout this season.
Maybe it’s time for everyone to move on.
