Spanish newspaper Sport claims Gerard Pique’s crisis talks with Barcelona will take place next week.
The Mirror reported yesterday that the Spanish international was set to hold talks with Barcelona boss Luis Enrique, who has been reluctant to use him at various points throughout the season.
That’s created speculation of an imminent exit and any talks which took place should allow clarification between the player and the coach ahead of the January transfer window.
“The Barcelona centre back will talk with his coach once he has returned from trips with Spain in the middle of next week,” claims Sport.
Pique will then have two options based on what his coach says.
He can either stay and fight for his place in the Barcelona team over the rest of the season, or he can take a reported move to one of Chelsea or Manchester United who are both thought to be keen on doing deals for him.
The talks taking place before January allows the player and his representatives plenty of time to work out an exit plan if Enrique makes it clear he doesn’t feature in his plans.
