This week has once again seen the future of Arsenal forward Lukas Podolski called into question, after the German international made these statements to the press whilst on international duty.
"I am not happy with the situation at the moment. It would be wrong to suggest that I am. I still have fun playing football but when the competitive element of it is taken away from me, the one I enjoy so much, then I am not happy. I have to think about will happen this winter and will look to hold talks with the club.”
“There were no offers [in the summer]. In football you can’t sadly just go looking for a club but have to see what comes.”
Podolski is a fan favourite at The Emirates but has never truly found his place in English football. Is he a striker, winger? In truth he is a bit of both and he quite frankly fails to fit in the mould - which is why Arsene Wenger so often leaves him out.
His talent is proven by the fact Germany continue to call him up to international duty despite not playing regular football. Podolski has been called up for the upcoming games against Gibraltar and Spain and was snapped in training this afternoon - where his trademark smile was, as usual, beaming ear-to-ear.
He also expressed his happiness at catching up with his former coach from his youth days, Jos Luhukay via his official Twitter account. Again, all smiles...
Arsenal fans would probably miss that the most.
