Italian paper claims Erik Lamela feels 'out of place' at Tottenham

Erik Lamela feels out of place at Tottenham Hotspur according to a report from Italy.

Italian newspaper CalcioMercato claims Tottenham Hotspur star Erik Lamela feels out of place at White Hart Lane.

The claim is a bizarre one as Lamela appears to be revitalised under the guidance of manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has shown faith in him and given him chances to impress throughout this season.

“Coco in London continues to feel out of place which is why he could pack up and leave in the New Year,” claims CalcioMercato.

Lamela has been a key part of Tottenham’s team in the Premier League with four assists so far, but his only goals have come in the Europa League and the League Cup, which is something that he’ll be looking to change.

CM also claims that Serie A side Napoli have already made contact with Lamela’s agent over a move away from North London.

However, despite this speculation, it would be a remarkable turn of events if Pochettino suddenly decided that the Argentine wasn’t the man he wanted leading the attack over the second half of the campaign.

Lamela may not have scored in the Premier League but he’s shown the versatility to play in different positions and will be a vital attacking asset if Pochettino doesn’t add to the three strikers in his squad this January.

It’s difficult to see where this rumour started but Spurs fans should feel confident that it won’t pan out.
