Benik Afobe has won the affections of MK Dons supporters after a poll asked who was the 'more complete' player between him and Chelsea starlet Patrick Bamford, who spent time on loan there last season.
Benik Afobe beat Chelsea striker Patrick Bamford in a landslide vote as fans were asked in a poll on www.mkweb.co.uk which is the more complete player.
The Arsenal striker is currently in the form of his life with 15 goals in 20 games, and has certainly filled the gap that Patrick Bamford left in January when was recalled by Chelsea, and loaned to Derby.
The Chelsea starlet scored 17 goals in 30 games for the Milton Keynes-based side and earned a reputation at stadium:mk that prompted Championship top goalscorers and promotion pushers Derby County to take a chance on him in the hope he could fire them to Premier League glory - which he very nearly did.
Bamford went on to net eight goals in 23 appearances for the Rams, including two vital match-winning goals against Sheffield Wednesday and Brighton and Hove Albion.
However, in Afobe's current form, many supporters expect him to surpass the goal tally Bamford achieved with the MK Dons, and that has shown in a recent poll run by www.mkweb.co.uk.
Bamford, after 20 games, was three goals behind the tally Afobe currently has and with ten games left before he reaches the overall amount the Chelsea striker made on loan for the League One side, he would have to hit a fairly rough patch in form not to reach it.
Nevertheless, Afobe has endured more bad than good loan spells in the Championship since he has been made available for clubs to take him on loan, with just four goals in 40 appearances at the higher level. Bamford, on the other hand, has netted an impressive 11 league goals in 31 Championship appearances.
The next step for the Arsenal striker will be to make a similar sized impact on the Championship to what he currently has done at stadium:mk.
MK Dons manager Karl Robinson announced on talkSPORT, after signing the 21-year-old on a season-long loan, he had agreed a contract extension with Arsenal after his previous one was due to expire at the end of the season.

It shows the confidence in the player, by Arsene Wenger, for him to eventually make the step up with the Gunners. However, he will undoubtedly need to prove himself on a bigger stage before he gets that opportunity.
