Waves three and four are due to arrive in 2015 and include Toon Link, Sonic the Hedgehog, and Bowser.

Nintendo has unveiled the third and fourth waves of it's new Amiibo figures. These next two waves are set to launch in Japan in January and February 2015.

In the third wave there will be eight more characters to collect: Lucario, Rosalina, Bowser, Toon Link, Sheik, Ike, Meta Knight and King Dedede.

Shulk, Sonic and Mega Man are due to arrive as wave four in February.

Nintendo has confirmed that the figures will all be compatible with Super Smash Bros. on 3DS and Wii U.

Toon Link will also work with Mario Kart 8 along with Hyrule Warriors. Sheik will work with Hyrule Warriors too.

An update to Nintendo's Wii U console has now added in Amiibo support, allowing users to register their figures.

Nintendo also revealed some more details about the Amiibo: only a single game can be written to each figure at a time. Super Smash Bros. is currently the only game that writes data, where other games just read it from the figures, unlocking new content.

The first wave of Amiibo are due to hit Europe on 28th November, with the second wave coming in December.
