Liverpool latest: Reds find out price tag for Brazilian playmaker target

All the latest news, views and transfer rumours from the Emirates Stadium...

Liverpool's poor start to the season continued with the 2-1 defeat to Chelsea on Saturday afternoon, but it could have been so different for the Reds given that they had two big shouts for penalties turned down.

Liverpool legend John Aldridge says that the club were 'robbed' against Jose Mourinho's men, and that Anthony Taylor's refereeing display was poor.

"Make no mistake, Liverpool could have got a draw against Chelsea if referee Anthony Taylor had had better eyesight with the second penalty decision," he said. "It was a chronic mistake, an absolute shocker. He was seven yards away!"

"For me there’s no excuse for something like that. Sure, a referee can get a 50:50 decision wrong, everyone accepts that. Sometimes you see a penalty, or a red card, and you think ‘yeah, I can see why he might have thought that’ even if you don’t agree with it yourself. But when it’s seven yards away, right in front of your eyes, it’s ridiculous," he added.

The attention is unsurprisingly turning towards the January transfer window, given that the Reds are struggling this season. Cruzeiro playmaker Everton Ribeiro has been strongly linked with a move to the club in recent weeks, and Cruzeiro sporting director Alexandre Matos says he will cost €20m, with Juventus ruled out of the running.

"The Italians don't have the possibility, I think, to afford Everton", he told Tutto Mercato. "For us he costs €20m. Italian football is in a difficult time and I do not think they can afford one of our crown jewels."

Meanwhile, Spanish playmaker Suso is being consistently linked with a move to AC Milan in the January transfer window, but his agent says that there has been no agreement with the Serie A giants - and could even sign a new contract at Anfield.

"There is no agreement with Milan. It is certainly a possibility, but for now there's nothing more to say," said Jaume Serra. "Rather, Liverpool are pushing for his renewal, so we cannot rule even this hypothesis out. At the moment, it's too early to discuss any possibilities."

Finally, Fiorentina goalkeeper Norberto Neto has once again been linked with Liverpool, with Rodgers seemingly looking to add competition for Simon Mignolet.
