Dutch midfielder Marco van Ginkel still seems determined to prove himself at San Siro rather than skulk back to Stamford Bridge.
The 21-year-old is yet to really show what he is capable of and had hoped that a season loan at AC Milan would provide the platform to shine.
However, van Ginkel picked up an injury very early in his Serie A spell and although he is back to fitness he has struggled to find a way into the first team.
The player's agent Karel Jansen has insisted that van Ginkel will fight to persuade coach Pippo Inzaghi to give him a chance, but there have been rumours that the loan could come to an end earlier than expected.
It is suggested that Chelsea aren't happy that van Ginkel hasn't been getting any playing time, but the man himself doesn't appear too fazed.
"I like the city of Milan. There are lots of good restaurants and I enjoy it here.
"We now have a few days to prepare for the Milan derby, which will be very important and hard for us. We have to win.
"I can play anywhere in the midfield. It doesn't matter that much which position. We want to have a good season and do better than last year, getting into Europe."
