Yesterday the Starz cable network announced that it's bringing an Evil Dead TV series to the small screen, and it'll star Bruce 'Ash' Campbell himself, premiering in 2015.
Named 'Ash vs. Evil Dead', the show will be a follow-up to the movies which will star Ash as the chainsaw-armed, boomstick-wielding hero. There will be 10 episodes in total, each lasting half an hour.
The description of the series from Starz is as follows:
"Bruce Campbell will be reprising his role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons –personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip."
The original writer and director of the Evil Dead movies, Sam Raimi, is on board to direct the first episode, as well being an executive producer. The series will also see the return of the movies' original producer, Rob Tapert, who will take on an executive producer role with Campbell.
The series was first mentioned back at San Diego Comic Con about 3 months ago.
