There were some superb individual performances over the weekend as the Premier League now grinds to a halt as the third international break already this season is about to start.
Here’s our Premier League team of the week based on the weekend’s action.
GK – Brad Guzan (Aston Villa)
He was pivotal in his side getting a point away at West Ham United. The American made a number of top quality saves.
RB – Antonio Valencia (Manchester United)
Valencia produced a very aggressive and feisty display of football, which made it difficult for Crystal Palace to get any momentum in attack.
CB – Fabricio Coloccini (Newcastle United)
Gave a superb and experienced performance against West Brom, bagging a goal in the process.
CB – Ron Vlaar (Aston Villa)
As solid as a rock against West Ham. No wonder Manchester United want to throw millions at him.
LB – Cesar Azpilicueta (Chelsea)
Gary Neville has just described Azpilicueta as the best defender in the Premier League and he showed why against Liverpool.
CM – Nemanja Matic (Chelsea)
Jose Mourinho has just described Matic as the best player in Chelsea’s team. He was a beast against Liverpool and protected his defence well.
CM – Jefferson Montero (Swansea City)
Calum Chambers will still be having nightmares about Montero. He gave the England international the run around in the Swans’ 2-1 win.
CM – Victor Wanyama (Southampton)
Ran the game in the middle of the team against Leicester City and gave the more creative players the freedom and room to express themselves.
ST – Shane Long (Southampton)
Showed great touch and quality with a brace against the Foxes.
ST – Diego Costa (Chelsea)
Kept his cool and slammed home Chelsea’s winner against Liverpool.
ST – Sergio Aguero (Manchester City)
Two more goals as he’s maintained his impressive form from October into November.
