West Ham are the best team in the league for Andy Carroll to flourish

Why West Ham are still the best side in the Premier League for Andy Carroll to flourish.

West Ham welcomed Andy Carroll back to action at the weekend, the striker coming off the bench in a 0-0 draw with Aston Villa.

Carroll will be desperate to stay injury free and earn a run in the side, but doing so won't be easy due to the excellent form of Diafra Sakho and Enner Valencia.

The £15 million man will get his chances though, and there is reason to believe that while the Hammers have adapted their style of play, they are still the best side in the league for him.

They continue to play to his big strength, scoring more goals this season from headers than any other Premier League side, with the highest percentage.

  Headed Goals% Goals Are Headers
West Ham 8 42%
Everton 6 30%
Hull City 5 38%
Stoke 4 33%
Sunderland 4 33%
West Brom 4 31%

Over the past three seasons prior to this one, Carroll has scored almost half of his goals through headers, and West Ham would be advised to continue playing to his biggest asset.

  Headed Goals% Goals Are Headers
Andy Carroll 6 46%

Injuries have really prevented him going onto become the striker he was touted to be, and he should take heart from the fact West Ham have not changed too much without him.

Valencia and Sakho's form means he will have to fight for his way into the side, but it also crucially allows the Hammers to handle Carroll's injury better and not place too much pressure on the former England international.
