London-based duo Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Eden Hazard were both in action over the weekend – but which player comes out on top as HITC’s London-based winger of the weekend?
According to the table provided by Opta, both players excelled as an attacking force and provided their respective teams with an enormous amount of creativity.
Chelsea travelled to Anfield on Saturday to take on a struggling Liverpool side and walked away with the three points thanks to a spirited 2-1 victory.
Belgian international Hazard was involved throughout, taking five shots and provided two key passes for his teammates.
Arsenal’s Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was even more involved, taking four shots and assisting his teammates with four key passes.
The England international was superb and boss Arsene Wenger couldn’t have asked for much more the winger as he added two accurate crosses.
Unfortunately from the Gunners’ perspective, the 21-year-old’s ball-carrying ability and fine movement ultimately counted for little as they were downed 2-1 at Swansea City.
Defensive frailties appeared once again throughout Arsene Wenger’s side and the soft underbelly in the middle of the park was thwarted by the home side.
Jose Mourinho on the other hand has a solid balance throughout his side and the Stamford Bridge outfit’s players know their roles and the transition between attack and defence.
Hazard, renowned for his wizardry on the wing, put in a fantastic defensive shift on Merseyside and contributed with an excellent ten ball recoveries.
However, Oxlade-Chamberlain also contributed well in that area and aside from not scoring he put in all-round winger performance worthy of being named HITC’s London-based winger of the weekend.
