Tottenham Hotspur fans react on Twitter to Tom Carroll display v Arsenal

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tom Carroll impressed for Swansea City against Arsenal.

Tottenham Hotspur loanee Tom Carroll starred for Swansea City as they beat Arsenal 2-1.

The Swans are up to fifth in the Premier League table, ahead of the Gunners thanks to the win at the Liberty Stadium.

Carroll is on a season long loan, and was making only his second league start of the campaign.

He put in a controlled display and appeared like he had been playing at the level for years, rather than on loan at Championship side QPR last season.

Carroll completed 86 per cent of his passes, and created one goalscoring opportunity for the Swans.

The 22-year-old also made two interceptions and three clearances, also blocking one shot from the Gunners.

His display came on a day that Tottenham suffered yet another home defeat, losing 2-1 to Stoke City and slipping to 12th in the table.

With youngster Ryan Mason earning his way into the Tottenham side of late and looking like a rare bright spark for the side, there is hope for Carroll that he too can force his way in too.

More performances like the one against rivals Arsenal will continue to boost his reputation, and at Swansea he is at a club where the style of football is similar to the one Mauricio Pochettino wants to implement at Tottenham.

Spurs fans had their say on Carroll's performance on Twitter, with differing perspectives:

Tottenham fans were however far from the only ones impressed with the youngster, with Swansea supporters also raving about his display.

There is even hope they will be aiming to sign him away on a permanent basis if he continues to show this form consistently.
