Silva is on loan from Arsenal at the La Liga side, and at 21-years-old, is just one year younger than the Barcelona attacker.
He recently received news he will finally qualify for a work permit to play for the Gunners from next season, but his weekend did not go according to plan.
Almeira took a shock 1-0 lead into half-time, before Jordi Alba, and substitute Neymar scored to win the game 2-1 for Barcelona.
Wellington Silva got just six minutes at the end of the game from the bench, managing only eight touches of the ball, too late to contribute meaningfully.
He appeared to take the experience of playing against Barcelona as a positive, posting on his Twitter feed: "Each day one step , each step a struggle , and every struggle a learning experience."
