Matt Damon set to return as Jason Bourne in 2016

Paul Greengrass is said to be directing the movie, and it will be the third time Matt Damon and the director have worked together.

In an interview with E! it was revealed that Matt Damon will be reprising his role as Jason Bourne in a new Bourne movie due in 2016.

Speaking to Damon and Ben Affleck during the celebration of the their HBO series Project Greenlight's revival, Affleck revealed: "Well, [Damon's] going to be doing a Bourne movie next fall when I've just completely lost any semblance of physical fitness. So…."

When E! asked for more info Damon confirmed,"yes, next year. It'll be in 2016 when the movie will actually come out. [Director] Paul Greengrass is going to do another one and that's all I ever said. I just needed him to say yes."

The 2016 movie will be the third time Damon and director Paul Greengrass have worked together, previously collaborating on The Bourne Supremacy and The Bourne Ultimatum together.

Greengrass had previously said: 'I discovered in my heart I didn't have another one in me,' when referring to the possibility of him directing a further Bourne movie. It appears he's had a change of heart.
