Manchester City morning news: Pellegrini bullish over methods and title hopes

A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester City.

Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini insists the Premier League title race isn’t over.

City were held at QPR last weekend while Chelsea won at Anfield to increase their lead at the top of the table.

“I’m not worried about Chelsea. They are in a very good moment and we will see if they continue to the end of the year. We have a lot of games to play,” said the boss.

Pellegrini has also lashed out at the club’s critics, insisting that City aren’t as bad as several are making out.

“We are conceding goals but we are the third best defence in the league, with one more goal conceded than Chelsea. So be careful, we're not so bad,” he said.

Former City midfielder Joey Barton says Pellegrini could be in danger of losing his job this season, even if his team retain the Premier League title.

Barton cites the Champions League as the cause of the pressure currently surrounding the Chilean.

“You are always only four or five results away from pressure. He won the league last year, but a couple of abject results and performances in Europe and all of a sudden he is under the cosh. This is the madness of the Premier League,” said Barton.
