Lord Sugar reacts to Tottenham Hotspur’s defeat to Stoke City; comments on Gylfi Sigurdsson

Lord Sugar has his say on Tottenham Hotspur’s home defeat to Stoke City in the Premier League on Sunday, while asking questions of the club’s decision to sell Gylfi Sigurdsson to Swansea City in the summer transfer window.

Former Tottenham Hotspur chairman Lord Sugar was not a happy man on Sunday.

Spurs were expected to win the Premier League clash against Stoke City at White Hart Lane, but they slipped up. Once again.

Tottenham were on the backfoot right from the start when Bojan Krkic scored in the sixth minute. Then on 33 minutes Jon Walters doubled Stoke’s advantage.

Although Nacer Chadli pulled one back 13 minutes from full time, it failed to spark a comeback as Spurs ended the game with 10 men following the dismissal of Kyle Naughton.

Just hours after Tottenham’s 2-1 home defeat to Stoke, Swansea City got the better of Arsenal by the same margin at the Liberty Stadium.

Gylfi Sigurdsson was once again a key player for the Swans, scoring the equaliser with a brilliant free kick and then getting involved in the winner.

Sigurdsson was on the books of Tottenham for two years between 2012 and 2014, but he failed to make a huge impact for the North London outfit.

However, since his move to Swansea in the summer transfer window, the Iceland international has raised his game and has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season.

The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has scored two goals in 11 league appearances, while creating 26 chances. Sigurdsson has a pass accuracy of 85% and a shot accuracy of 70%.

Swansea are currently fifth in the Premier League table with 18 points from 11 matches, while Tottenham are four points behind them in 12th place.
