Former Aston Villa and Liverpool player Stan Collymore has tipped Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to leave the club in January.
While hosting a show for talkSPORT yesterday, Collymore suggested Lloris would leave while discussing Tottenham’s defeat and situation with a fan while live on air.
The fan suggested that the French stopper would find it difficult to resist the lure of the Bernabeu if Real Madrid made a formal offer and Collymore didn’t disagree.
“When or if Real Madrid come calling, Lloris will dawdle towards an exit in January – halfway through an important season for the club.”
Recent reports have suggested that Real Madrid will come to the table this winter will a £20 million offer designed to steal Lloris away from White Hart Lane.
Tottenham’s summer acquisition of Michel Vorm from Swansea City means Spurs could entertain the idea of a deal if the offer is big enough and it will be interesting to see if Daniel Levy turns it down.
However, what Spurs have going in their favour is the fact that Real Madrid already have two top quality goalkeepers in place in Iker Casillas and Keylor Navas, who would create the competition he’s not experiencing at Spurs at the moment.
In short, they both represent why the Real rumours may be baseless and why Lloris could stay at Tottenham where he’s the undoubted number one at the moment.
Tottenham fell to their fourth post-Europa League defeat so far this season against Stoke and if they don’t rectify things quickly, the Frenchman could follow Luka Modric and Gareth Bale’s moves away from White Hart Lane.
