Chelsea morning news: Azpilicueta and the two reasons for Blues form

Stamford Bridge

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Cesar Azpilicueta has suggested two reasons the Blues are sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League.

The Spanish defender has been a main stay in a side which has led the league from virtually the first week.

“I think we are stronger mentally now. The players who came have given us another dimension as well,” he’s quoted by the Daily Mail.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed that in form Cesc Fabregas is likely to miss games due to injury.

Fabregas played, despite risks, in the win against Liverpool last weekend at Anfield.

“Fabregas, in this moment, I think maybe is a problem for the next match because we gambled everything on a hamstring problem and the medical department took the risk together with me,” said the boss.

Mourinho has also named who he feels is Chelsea’s best player; Nemanja Matic.

“(Matic) is the best player. He was signed in the most difficult market. Which is for the players who are coming in mid-season, so the last half of the season was for him to improve, not adaption,” said Mourinho.
