Aston Villa midfielder Ashley Westwood has hailed goalkeeper Brad Guzan’s performance in Saturday’s 0-0 draw at West Ham United.
Guzan helped end Villa’s run of six consecutive defeats on the weekend with five impressive saves, including a last-gasp effort from an Andy Carroll header to cap a fine display and earn a place in the Premier League's team of the week.
Paul Lambert’s side have had little to shout about up front over the past months, having scored just once in almost 11 hours of football, but the American has continued to stand out in defence as one of few bright spots, with his teammate moved to single him out for special praise.
“Brad has been tremendous for us for the last few years now,” Westwood told the club’s official website.
"He made saves last week and made a great save at the end of the game. He's full of confidence.
"He came out at the end of the game and cleared the blocks which is what you want from your 'keeper when you're under the cosh.
"He took everything and it helped earn a point in the end.”

Westwood was also hugely encouraged by the all-round performance at Upton Park, and insists it’s only a matter of time before the team returns to winning ways.
"It was a real big point. The way we defended was good and we had chances to win it so it wasn't all backs to the wall. We could've taken all three points,” he said.
"It was a massive point. It's a tough place to come. They're on the back of a good run. We needed to pick points up and I thought we were tremendous.
"We created chances so that's not on our minds. We've got enough goals in the team. It's now about working hard during the international break, sticking together and everything will come right.”
