Sunderland fans react on Twitter to Seb Larsson performance v Everton

The Swede was superb for the Black Cats against the Toffees on Sunday afternoon.

Sunderland's season has been full of ups and downs so far this Premier League campaign. Well, mostly downs.

But, at the moment, things could certainly be worse for the Black Cats. A 3-1 win at Crystal Palace relieved some pressure on boss Gus Poyet last week and, this time around, Sunderland were unlucky not to pick up maximum points once again.

Sebastian Larsson was their driving force against Everton and his brilliant free-kick earned them a point that could easily have been three.

“We know Seb's quality, we know what he brings to the team and we know how hard he works - but every now and then you need a good feeling and a prize to take home and I think he was ready to take the prize," Poyet told Sunderland's official website after the game.

“It [his free-kick] was difficult to stop and I think to do it [Tim] Howard has to move a little bit early and then maybe it comes into his sight. But it was great delivery and I think we deserved the goal at that time."

John O'Shea 26 0 0 1 0 90
Sebastian Larsson 25 3 1 1 3 90

As Opta stats show, Larsson did indeed impress even aside from his wonderful goal against Everton.

Liam Bridcutt completed the most passes for his side but Larsson, typically, landed the most crosses and also won a tackle and an interception.

Where the hard-working Swede shone most, though, was in the final third. Indeed, the 29-year-old created three chances for the Black Cats, the most out of any of his team-mates.

So how did Sunderland fans rate his performance? Well...
