Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton is singing the praises of Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero.
Queens Park Rangers midfielder Joey Barton seems to believe that Manchester City star Sergio Aguero is the best striker in the Premier League.
Following QPR’s 2-2 draw with the defending English champions at Loftus Road on Saturday, the former Newcastle United star took to social networking site Twitter to make his opinion known.
Great performance again from the lads. Great to be back. Could have been 3 points but for Sergio Aguero. The best striker in the country.
— Joseph Barton (@Joey7Barton) November 8, 2014
Aguero was in red-hot form on Saturday as he scored both goals for City in the 2-2 draw. His strikes against Rangers took his tally to 12 goals in 11 Premier League appearances and made him the current top scorer in the division.
Argentina international Aguero has been on the books of City since 2011 and has been instrumental in their two Premier League title triumphs since then.
The former Atletico Madrid star has struggled with injuries in recent years, but he is now fully fit and is firing on all cylinders.
Barton’s argument that Aguero is the best striker in England could be contested by Chelsea fans. Diego Costa has been in sensational form for the Blues since joining the club from Atletico in the summer transfer window, scoring 10 goals in nine league appearances despite concerns over his fitness in recent weeks.
Manchester United fans could also point to the fact that a certain Radamel Falcao deserves to be rated as one of the best in England.
Although the Colombia international has struggled with injuries so far this season, he remains a deadly and lethal striker when fully fit.
