'I just want to come here and prove I can be just as good as them two legends.'
The 19-year-old was superb for Southampton last season and that form persuaded United to part with £30 million for his services.
A poor start to life at Old Trafford swayed expectations, though, but Shaw was voted his side's man of the match against Crystal Palace on Saturday.
For his performance against Palace, we gave Shaw an 8/10:
"United's man of the match - as voted by fans and overwhelmingly by pundits. The left-back bombed forward and provided creativity and energy in abundance. Defensively, Shaw looks much improved, as well. Questions will still rightly hover about the 19-year-old's £30 million pricetag but maybe he was a good signing after all!"
Indeed, the Manchester United legends serve as his two biggest inspirations.
"There is Patrice Evra and Denis Irwin that are top quality left-backs and I just want to come here and prove to everyone that I can be just as good as them two legends."
