Manchester United defender Paddy McNair has been speaking following his latest appearance for the club.
The Northern Irishman made his third start for United against Crystal Palace and played his part in the first clean-sheet of his senior career.
It was another fine showing from the 19-year-old, following on from impressive outings against West Ham United and Everton earlier in the campaign; and the teenager has revealed how it feels to be such an important part of United’s first-team this season.
In an interview with MUTV later published on the club’s official website, McNair said, “It has been a crazy couple of months.
“I was playing with the under-21s two months ago, then all of a sudden I’m playing in front of 75,000 people at Old Trafford.”
The United centre-back has shown both talent and composure in the heart of a defence that has been ever-changing this season.
Most recently he partnered summer signing Daley Blind following Marcos Rojo’s injury and Chris Smalling’s suspension. But whoever he is alongside he looks a natural and it seems United have found their next quality centre-back at an unlikely time.
McNair also revealed his target for the campaign, adding, “Last year I think I played 11 games for the under-21s so hopefully I’ll be close to 11 for the first-team by the end of the season.”
At this rate, that should not be a problem.
