Atletico Madrid are eyeing a €10 million January transfer window swoop for Manchester United target Semih Kaya, reports claim.
The Galatasaray central defender has been a commanding figure at the back for the Turkish giants since breaking through in 2011 despite his young age.
At just 23, Kaya has represented Galatasaray 117 times in all competitions and his performances have allegedly attracted the interest of the Red Devils.
United boss Louis van Gaal is keen to add to his defensive ranks in January, and an apparent €15 million had been set aside for his signature should the Dutchman wish to proceed.
“Atletico CEO Miguel Angel Gil was in Istanbul this week to discuss a possible stadium naming rights deal with Turkish Airways but was also rumoured to have held talks with Galatasaray over Kaya. The La Liga champions are willing to pay €10 million for the combative defender and will table an official bid in January,” the report states.
United desperately need to bolster their defensive ranks in January following a number of injuries to senior players and the overreliance on rookies Patrick McNair and Tyler Blackett.
Ryan Shawcross and Ron Vlaar have also been linked with a move to Old Trafford in recent weeks.
