Southampton certainly had a busy summer, with both exits and arrivals at St Marys Stadium.
The club was raided for the likes of Rickie Lambert, Luke Shaw, Adam Lallana and Dejan Lovren.
But new boss Ronald Koeman had a simple solution to that problem - replace each and every one of them with cheap alternatives.
They replaced Shaw with Ryan Bertrand on loan. Lambert and Lallana were replaced with Eredivisie arrivals Graziano Pelle and Dusan Tadic. Sadio Mane, Shane Long and Fraser Forster were brought in to strengthen the side - but they still had to replace Lovren.
To do that they raided Atletico Madrid, who wanted to loan out the Belgian defender Toby Alderweireld after he failed to establish himself at the Vicente Calderon.
Alderweireld was once a man in high demand while at Ajax. Plenty of teams wanted his signature, such as Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United but Atletico got him for just €7 million last summer.
Now it is being reported in Belgium that Southampton know the price they will have to pay for the defender - and it is an absolute bargain considering the way he has performed in his early Southampton career.
It is reported in HLN that Atletico will sell Alderweireld for a fee of €8.5 million, as agreed in the agreement when the loan deal was thrashed out.
At that price, considering Southampton already have the cash in the bank to make the move, it would be a mistake not to snap him up.
