The Spaniard was on target as Manchester United won 1-0 against Crystal Palace.
Manchester United got through a difficult game against Crystal Palace this afternoon, winning 1-0 at Old Trafford. And for the man who got the winning goal, it could not have come at a batter time.
Spanish international Juan Mata has not been in great form recently. Well, he has not really had the chance to be. He has been used sparingly by Louis van Gaal this season, as he has preferred Wayne Rooney in the attacking midfield role.
But today he proved his quality once again with an excellent second half cameo.
He entered the pitch in the 63rd minute, coming on for Adnan Januzaj. Just four minutes later he smashed home a left-foot strike, which deflected beyond Julian Speroni in the Crystal Palace goal - to give Manchester United the lead.
He also struck the post late on in his excellent mini appearance, proving that he is still a major member of the Manchester United family.
And he was more than happy to celebrate with gusto his excellent strike.
