Pardew: Remy Cabella is 'on the cusp' of starting for Newcastle United

The Newcastle United boss says the Frenchman has almost earned his place in the starting XI back.

Newcastle boss Alan Pardew has revealed that midfielder Remy Cabella is 'on the cusp' of starting for his side after an upturn in recent form.

The Frenchman signed for the Magpies this summer and was installed straight into Newcastle's first team.

But a failure to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League meant Pardew was forced to drop Cabella to the bench.

Since, however, he has come on and produced some 'significant cameos' - cameos that have put him 'on the cusp' of starting for Newcastle once again.

"The cameos he’s done have been significant. Spurs, Liverpool, they were significant," Pardew told reporters.

“He’s on the cusp of starting again now as he comes to grips with what this division’s about. It’s about physicality and mentality; about where you should be on the pitch at a particular time; about how you can effect the opposition best.

“I think some of his play is too central. He needs to kind of open up the pitch a little bit at times.”

Newcastle travel to West Brom tomorrow afternoon.
