Michael Owen looks ahead to West Bromwich Albion v Newcastle United in Premier League

St James Park

Michael Owen backs Newcastle United to at least pick up a point from their trip to West Bromwich Albion in the Premier League on Sunday.

Michael Owen believes that West Bromwich Albion will find it tough against his former club Newcastle United.

The Baggies will entertain the Magpies at The Hawthorns in the Premier League on Sunday.

Both West Brom and Newcastle are in the bottom half of the table and are still very close to the relegation zone.

Many would feel that playing at home would give Alan Irvine’s side an advantage, but former Newcastle striker Owen is not writing off the chances of Alan Pardew’s team.

‘West Brom have a poor recent record against Newcastle and, with the Magpies having turned their season around in recent weeks, I would be surprised if they left the Hawthorns with nothing to show for their efforts’, the ex-England international wrote on Betvictor.com.

‘Saido Berahino is looking to score in a record fourth successive PL home game for the Baggies but they will meet a Newcastle side high on confidence after their recent wins against Spurs, City and Liverpool’.

Newcastle have come into form in recent weeks and are looking supremely confident. They have won their last four competitive matches and have picked up 10 points from a possible 12 in the Premier League.
