The Invincibles repeated? Jose Mourinho has his say

Jose Mourinho does not believe Chelsea will remain undefeated all season in the same vein as Arsenal's Invincibles.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has given his response when asked if the Blues will emulate Arsenal’s Invincibles and go the entire Premier League season undefeated.

The league leaders maintained their outstanding start to the campaign by defeating Liverpool on Saturday lunch-time, but despite another vital victory Mourinho does not believe his side will keep their record all season.

In post-match comments published by Goal.com, the Chelsea boss said, “I think it’s possible to be champions but in modern football and the Premier League I do not believe in an unbeaten season. The defeat will arrive.”

In making such an emphatic statement he is once again doing what he does so often and so well – taking the pressure off his players.

The Portuguese coach did it numerous times last season but it is telling that this time he is not ruling out Premier League success – far from it – only the challenge of remaining unbeaten for a further 27 league games.

That said, looking at the side he has constructed it is a possibility…if only a slim one.
