Former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham has advised Stoke City to believe in themselves and go for the win at Tottenham Hotspur.
On paper, Tottenham will be the favourites to pick up the three points, but former Stoke star Higginbotham believes that Mauricio Pochettino’s side do have the propensity to lose games they should win.
‘Tottenham's bigger problem is the fact they still seem to have that soft underbelly which gives teams a chance’, the 35-year-old wrote in The Stoke Sentinel.
‘I won at White Hart Lane with both Stoke and Sunderland at a time when we shouldn't have had a chance against their superior players.
‘Top teams win when they don't play well, but Spurs seem to lose those games. I thought they might be changing when I saw them win ugly at West Ham on the opening day, but results and performances since suggest otherwise.
‘Stoke must go there concentrating on the positives from last week's draw against West Ham because there's no doubt they played some of their best football of the season'.
Tottenham have a good squad which can compete for a top-four place in the Premier League, but they are terribly inconsistent and cannot be assertive throughout the 90 minutes.
Stoke themselves are not exactly having a great season as they are just three points above the relegation zone, but Mark Hughes’s side can still stage an upset at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
