Manchester United have been linked with another defender, so what do fans need to know about him?

According to a report in the Daily Star Manchester United are considering a £12million move for Monaco left-back Layvin Kurzawa.

The reports initially began in France, where the player has impressed in recent times and subsequently seen his name linked with a club that already has two perfectly good left-backs in the form of Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo.

But for those United fans eager to know more about the latest apparent target, here are five facts to get you started:

1) Kurzawa was born in France in September 1992. He began his youth career with Stade Raphaelois in 1996 when he was just four and he would go on to represent Monaco’s youth team 11 years later.

2) The full-back would later be promoted to Monaco’s first-team and to date he has played 63 times for them.

3) In that time the reported United target has scored five goals and provided six assists.

4) Although predominantly a left-back, the 22-year-old can also operate as a left-winger if required, and that versatility could appeal to Louis van Gaal.

5) Kurzawa has represented France at under-19, under-20 and under-21 level. He has a total of 15 caps across all three age-groups and has three goals in just five games for the under-21s since making his debut in November 2013.
