Derby fans react on Twitter to Johnny Russell's performance v Wolves

The Scot netted a brace for the Rams against Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Johnny Russell turned in a fine performance for Derby as County beat Wolves 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Scot bagged a brace and many Derby fans are now asking why the striker isn't in the Scotland squad.

He certainly staked a claim during a sensational win over Wolverhampton and boss Steve McClaren was delighted with his side.

McClaren told Sky Sports: “The players deserve great credit for what they did.

“We were just so focused. We got to the top of the league before and lost our focus a little bit. Even when the score was five, we kept going. We had everything today.

“The amount of scorers we’ve got is important. It was a team performance. I’ll look back on this game and think ‘wow.’

“It’s been a tough period and they [the players] need a little break. We showed what this team is capable of doing today.”

Cue a heap of praise from Derby fans for the goalscorer on Twitter after the game.

There were several standout performers against Wolves, of course, with Jeff Hendrick also scoring twice, while Ryan Shotton scored and Will Hughes once again impressed.
