Tottenham Hotspur morning news: Pochettino frustrated, hits back at Neville 'weak' claims

A round up of news stories this morning about Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has criticised his defence after the 2-1 Europa League win against Asteras Tripolis.

Goals from Andros Townsend and in form striker Harry Kane were enough to help Spurs over the line but Federico Fazio was sent off after conceding a late penalty.

“I think that during the first half we were better than Asteras - We need to improve, we need to work, we need to realise we need to improve in different aspects of the game,” said the boss.

Pochettino also hit back at claims from Gary Neville that Tottenham are a mentally weak side.

“If you have a weak mentality, it would be there in 90 minutes, not only in some moments - We need to work very hard with our mentality to be focused on the game,” he’s quoted by the BBC.

Tottenham Hotspur are one of the sides linked with moving for Aston Villa midfielder Fabian Delph.

The Telegraph has reported that Delph is unlikely to sign a new contract at Villa Park.

Delph has reportedly told Villa boss Paul Lambert that he wants to keep his options open.
