Arsene Wenger at Training - 18/02/2014

Bayern Munich, Southampton, Manchester United, Benfica and Barcelona stars all feature.

Arsene Wenger is one of several top flight bosses who will be looking to improve his squad this winter with some potentially brilliant signings for Arsenal.

The Gunners’ vast resources means the club can afford big fees and put new players on competitive wage deals.

Here are five of the best players linked with Arsenal moves this past week.

Xherdan Shaqiri (Bayern Munich)

The Swiss star has most recently been linked with a move to Tottenham Hotspur, but Arsenal are still reportedly interested. FC Schalke have ruled themselves out though where he’d fit into Arsene Wenger’s first choice side is a difficult to judge.

Morgan Schneiderlin (Southampton)

Arsenal could succeed where local rivals Tottenham Hotspur failed last summer and sign the French holding midfielder. He’s been mentioned in reports as a target alongside other possible additions and would inject some real grit in front of the Arsenal defence,

Chris Smalling (Manchester United)

The Manchester United defender has been linked with Arsenal before, with Wenger reportedly interested in a deal last summer. Fresh reports today have suggested another move this winter, as the Frenchman looks to sure up his back four.

Goncalo Guedes (Benfica)

The positive: Arsenal could snap up one of the best talents in Europe in the form of 17-year-old Guedes. The negative: Reports suggest he’d cost them close to a staggering £40 million.

Munir (Barcelona)

Spanish news source AS suggests Munir El Haddadi wants to leave Barcelona to seek a fresh new challenge creating the possibility for Arsenal to swoop in with another Cesc Fabregas type transfer.
