PHOTOS: 17-year-old duo train with Newcastle United first team

Adam Armstrong and Freddie Woodman took part in first-team training ahead of the Magpies' Premier League clash with West Brom.

The rain poured down on Friday as Newcastle United prepared for their latest Premier League fixture against West Brom on Sunday afternoon.

But the weather was no reflection on the Magpies' recent fortunes. Heading into their trip to the Hawthorns, Newcastle have won their last four games on the bounce in all competitions.

Three of those have been in the league and all the criticism Alan Pardew has received in recent months seems to have taken an immediate backseat.

“We are winning games, confidence is good and everyone is playing their part. We look forward to the game on Sunday," Pardew told reporters.

“West Brom are the hardest-working team in the Premier League so we will have to match that on Sunday.”

And, from training, it looked as though Newcastle are planning to spread that hard-working mentality through to their youth squad.

Indeed, Adam Armstrong and goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, both 17, took part in first-team practice on Friday afternoon, although it does not necessarily suggest they will play against West Brom.

Woodman trained alongside first-choice goalkeepers Tim Krul and Rob Elliot, while Newcastle fans will need no introduction to Armstrong, who has starred for the Magpies in the Capital One Cup so far this season.

Here, then, are the best images from training!
