Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino has identified a key area in which his side need to improve following the victory over Asteras Tripolis on Thursday.
Andros Townsend opened the scoring for Premier League outfit Tottenham in the 36th minute, and Harry Kane doubled the advantage just six minutes later.
However, the North London side’s performance in the second half left much to be desired, and they also conceded a late goal when Jeronimo Barrales found the target from the penalty spot following the dismissal of Federico Fazio.
‘We need to realise we have to improve in different aspects of the game’, The London Evening Standard quotes Pochettino as saying.
‘We need to focus on the game for 96, 97 minutes, but it is one aspect and it is not easy to improve. We are alive in three different competitions but we know we need to get better and for that I am not happy’.
As Pochettino says, the Tottenham players need to maintain their focus for the entire match. It could have cost them a win on Thursday, and it could cost them points in the Premier League.
Tottenham have a good squad which is capable of at least competing for a top-four finish in the Premier League, but they have to make sure that they are not susceptible to conceding late goals.
Spurs are currently eighth in the league table with 14 points from 10 matches, three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal.
