A round up of news stories this morning about Manchester United.
AC Milan midfielder Nigel De Jong doesn’t see any problems with a contract renewal at the Serie A giants.
De Jong is reportedly one of United’s key winter transfer targets, but it seems they won’t get a chance to snap him up.
“I’m happy here in Milan. I don’t see any problems for a renewal,” said the Dutchman.
Paul Scholes says he expected Manchester United to be showing more signs of progress by this stage of the season.
The Manchester United legend has questioned van Gaal’s style and management during games.
“I expected Manchester United to have a better record by this stage of the season - It is difficult to figure out what Van Gaal is thinking during games. His demeanour doesn't change throughout. He looks a bit subdued,” wrote Scholes for the Independent.
The Mirror claims Arsene Wenger believes LvG will sell Chris Smalling to Arsenal.
The Gunners appear keen on a move for the England international this winter, with van Gaal having already sold to Arsenal in Danny Welbeck.
Smalling has been used infrequently at Old Trafford by van Gaal this season.
