Jamie Redknapp: What Queens Park Rangers did not do v Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United

Jamie Redknapp says that he is impressed with Queens Park Rangers’ recent performances in the Premier League.

Former Liverpool midfielder Jamie Redknapp has been reflecting on Queens Park Rangers’ season so far.

Heading into this weekend’s round of matches, Rangers find themselves second from bottom in the Premier League table with seven points from 10 games.

QPR manager Harry Redknapp has come under pressure in recent weeks, as suggestions have flared up that the London club could suffer relegation to the Championship at the end of the campaign.

Things have shown signs of improvement in their last three league matches, which have ended in narrow defeats to Liverpool and Chelsea and a 2-0 home victory over Aston Villa.

Redknapp believes that Rangers have started to do what they could not against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United - away games which they lost by a four-goal margin.

‘Generally speaking, QPR have performed pretty well at home this season and they’ve been competitive at Loftus Road’, the former Spurs star wrote on Skysports.com.

‘Their real problems have come on the road. They went to Tottenham on the second weekend of the season and never laid a glove on them, never put them under pressure and allowed not a particularly strong Spurs side dominate the game and win 4-0.

'Manchester United did the same to them. Yes, they’d just brought Angel di Maria in and it was a bad time to play United, but they didn’t get close enough to them.

'It wasn’t about tactics or systems – it was about applying yourself, forcing yourself onto the opposition and being more aggressive when you haven’t got the ball.

'That’s something they’ve started to do in recent weeks, though, and their display at Chelsea was a real contrast to those trips to White Hart Lane and Old Trafford'.

Rangers will be looking to return to winning ways on Saturday when they host Manchester City at Loftus Road.
