Villa fans react on Twitter to Delph potentially leaving on a free

Aston Villa

Aston Villa fans have been left angered by Fabian Delph's reported decision to leave the club on a free transfer.

With news emerging that Fabian Delph could be set to leave Aston Villa on a free transfer, the disgruntled mood around Villa Park continues to grow.

The central-midfielder has established himself as one of Paul Lambert's side's key players in recent times and the thought of losing him has frustrated Villa fans.

Their annoyance is added to by the fact that Delph is reportedly set to leave on a free-transfer, meaning that the club will recoup nothing for losing their top talent.

Delph's contract expires in the summer and, with interest growing in acquiring his services, it seems that his head could be about to be turned.

It appears a slap in the face for Villa fans, as the club stuck by him during what was a difficult spell.

Delph has shown his class now, but he took a while to reach the standards needed to be a regular starter in the Premier League and many sides would have lost patience in him.

He owes much of his success in recent times, which has seen him pick up England caps, to Villa and the club's fans have become frustrated by his seemingly ungrateful decision.

Although there is famously a lack of loyalty in modern day football, Villa fans feel that Delph owes them more than most players do and they have been left frustrated by his apparent decision to simply let his contract run down.

Here is the best reaction from a frustrated set of Villa fans on Twitter to Delph's possible exit.
