Christian Eriksen reacts to Tottenham Hotspur’s win v Asteras Tripolis in Europa League

Christian Eriksen seemed happy with Tottenham Hotspur’s away victory over Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on Thursday.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Christian Eriksen believes that they should have scored more than two goals against Asteras Tripolis in the Europa League on Thursday.

Spurs won the Europa League Group C encounter 2-1, but they conceded a late goal and had to survive a scare in Greece.

Andros Townsend opened the scoring for Premier League outfit Tottenham in the 36th minute, and Harry Kane doubled the advantage just six minutes later.

However, the North London side’s performance in the second half left much to be desired, and they also conceded a late goal when Jeronimo Barrales found the target from the penalty spot following the dismissal of Federico Fazio.

After the match, Eriksen said that Tottenham could have won by more than a one-goal margin.

Although Tottenham were the better team in the first half, Asteras stepped up their game in the second period. While Asteras had 17 shots, Spurs had 13 - both teams had five attempts on target in the match.

However, Tottenham returned from Greece with the three points - and that is the most crucial thing. The victory means that Spurs are now second in Group C with eight points from four matches, level on points with leaders Besiktas.

Remember.. the winners of the Europa League this season stand a chance of playing in the 2015-16 Champions League campaign.
