Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has been favoured ahead of Chelsea’s Diego Costa.

Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez has been voted ahead of Chelsea striker Diego Costa as the best signing of the summer, according to the Spanish publication AS.

The Chilean international became the Gunners’ top summer signing as he moved to North London from Barcelona on 10 July for a reported £35 million fee.

Arriving with a complete skill-set including pace, power, strength and fabulous technique, many supporters at the Emirates Stadium had high hopes for Sanchez and they haven’t been disappointed.

Costa, on the other hand, has also been a revelation this season, and he could count himself extremely unlucky not to be thought of as the signing of the summer.

The Blues striker arrived from Atletico Madrid and could not have started off life at Stamford Bridge any better as he notched seven Premier League goals in his first four matches.

Jose Mourinho’s side have begun the season in powerful fashion, as eight wins and two draws from 10 matches leaves themselves at the top of the table.

The relationship between former Gunners’ skipper Cesc Fabregas and new striker Costa has been pivotal to their early season success, but fans in England feel that Sanchez has made an even bigger impact.

Alexis Sánchez 7 28 21 30 330 46 9 691

As per the table provided by Opta Stats, both players have performed extremely well so far this campaign, but Sanchez’s overall involvement has been nothing short of marvellous.

In a report published by the Spanish publication AS, in an online poll 61.57% voted in favour of Sanchez being the best summer signing whereas Diego Costa received 38.43% of the British public’s backing.

The Gunners travel to Swansea City on Sunday in the hope of a repeat of last season where the emerged with the three points during a 2-1 victory.

Boss Arsene Wenger will no doubt be looking for Sanchez to provide yet another stellar performance as the 25-year-old continues to impress in the absence of star teammate Mesut Ozil.
