It was a mixed week of results for the English sides involved in the UEFA Youth League as two sides saw their positions damaged, while one team produced a breath taking win.
Here’s our latest round up of the action.
Maribor 0-7 Chelsea
Wow is the only words which seems appropriate for this performance.
Chelsea are making a real statement as they aim to try and win the UYL with Dom Solanke and Charlie Colkett both bagging braces in this game, while Charly Musonda, Alex Kiwomya and Tammy Abraham all bagged goals in the massive win.
Chelsea top their group ahead of Schalke and are the top scorers in the competition so far.
Manchester City 4-2 AS Roma
Manchester City secured a good win against Roma though they won’t be happy with their defending during the game as the Russian side equalised twice before City started to pull clear.
The star of the show for City was Brandon Barker who got a brace in between goals from Jack Byrne and Thierry Ambrose.
Manchester City’s youngsters, in contrast to the senior side, are top of their group with a six point cushion over Roma.
Arsenal 1-2 Anderlecht
A goal from Daniel Crowley wasn’t enough to stop Arsenal from falling victim to a double from the Belgian side, who won the first match 4-3, with Crowley also bagging all of Arsenal’s goals during that game.
Arsenal are second in their group behind Anderlecht, on the same number of points as Galatasaray but ahead of the Turkish side on goal difference.
Real Madrid 4-1 Liverpool
A single goal from Cameron Brannagan was the only consolation for Liverpool as they joined the first team in defeat away in Spain.
Liverpool have conceded nine goals from their games so far and now have it all to do to claw back Basel and Real Madrid, who share their lead in their group on nine points.
