Chelsea morning news: Mourinho defends Hazard, Moses quiet over future

A round up of news stories this morning about Chelsea.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has defended Eden Hazard after the 1-1 draw against Maribor.

The Belgian missed a spot kick, which would have been enough to win the game, in the 86th minute.

“When a player plays as well as Eden Hazard did – for me he was absolutely fantastic, by far the best player in my team – he can miss a penalty and still be the best player in my team,” said Mourinho.

Victor Moses has been non-committal when asked about a future away from Chelsea.

The winger is currently on loan at Premier League rivals Stoke City.

“I'm still a Chelsea player. I am here to help Stoke as a club to make sure they are in the right position in the Premier League,” he told Sentinel.

Liverpool central defender Kolo Toure has suggested the Reds need to play on Chelsea’s mentality in order to get back into the title race.

The centre back has admitted the Blues could win the league, but has suggested the key for them is their mental strength.

“It is about mentality. Every game is challenging and sometimes things don't go well for you but you need to be able to come back and carry on fighting,” said Toure.
