A Series of Unfortunate Events to be adapted for TV by Netflix

Netflix redesign

The hugely popular series of books is to be turned into a television show by Netflix.

It has been announced that Netflix will produce a new television show based on the children’s books A Series of Unfortunate Events.

The 13-part collection is written by Lemony Snicket – the pseudonym of author Daniel Handler whose debut novel was the wonderful The Basic Eight.

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Handler will executive produce the show and has published comments from Cindy Holland, vp original content for Netflix.

“The world created by Lemony Snicket is unique, darkly funny and relatable,” Holland said. “We can’t wait to bring it to life for Netflix members.”

There is no news yet regarding casting as the online subscription service looks for its next great show, following in the footsteps of previous original content such as Orange is the New Black and House of Cards.
