Three reasons why Angelo Henriquez may not have a future at Manchester United

Angelo Henriquez is starring on loan but he may not have a future at Manchester United despite that fine form.

Manchester United striker Angelo Henriquez is going about it the right way if he wants to get Louis van Gaal’s attention.

The Chilean front-man has scored 12 goals in his last 10 matches for loan club Dinamo Zagreb, and recent reports have claimed the 20-year-old sees his future at Old Trafford.

But despite his outstanding run of form there are a number of reasons why Henriquez may not have a future at United.

James Wilson and Will Keane

United already have two young goal-getters in the form of James Wilson and Will Keane and the former in particular is tipped to have a very bright future in van Gaal’s first-team. Wilson’s talent is one of the reasons Danny Welbeck was allowed to leave for Arsenal and the teenager has already shown he has an eye for goal and the confidence to challenge for a first-team spot despite his age.

Keane is also playing his way back into form and he remains highly-regarded at United, so Henriquez could struggle to force his way into contention ahead of his fellow young teammates.

A possible permanent stay for Radamel Falcao

Reports claim United may have already done a deal for the permanent transfer of loan star Radamel Falcao and if that proves to be true the Colombian’s presence will make it very hard for Henriquez to get minutes.

Even if Robin van Persie leaves – a rumour that refuses to go away – United still have Wayne Rooney, Falcao, Keane, Wilson and possibly the returning Javier Hernandez. Could Henriquez really move ahead of most of them in the pecking-order?

The age-factor

Former Liverpool player Jamie Carragher recently suggested that the age of United’s current first-team strikers means van Gaal will have to spend big on quality replacements sooner rather than later.

With Keane and Wilson both young and Henriquez only 20 it could be argued that United will not want to put their faith in such an inexperienced front-line, with a quality goal-getter in his mid-twenties a possible option if and when van Gaal deems the likes of van Persie and Rooney past their best.
