Sheffield Wednesday fans react to Drenthe performance on Twitter

Sheffield Wednesday supporters have been left frustrated by Royston Drenthe's red card, which may have cost them the game against Bournemouth.

Royston Drenthe has frustrated Sheffield Wednesday supporters after picking up a red card in the club's 2-0 defeat to Bournemouth last night.

The scores were locked at 0-0 until Drenthe's second rash challenge of the night meant that he was sent to the stands by Mike Dean and Bournemouth took advantage.

Goals from Andrew Surman and Ryan Fraser gave the Cherries a win which puts them top of the Championship, but it was Drenthe's red-card which really turned the match.

Although the decision to produce a second yellow was a controversial one, the Dutchman should have known better than to dive in whilst on a yellow and he was made to pay for it.

Drenthe will now miss this weekend match against Rotherham United and his absence is a frustration given he has had to wait so long for his chance.

The Reading loanee was not entrusted to play a starting role for the side until their match against Charlton last weekend and he looks set for another match on the sidelines after this ill discipline.

The Owls have been on a poor run of form and they are now winless in nine matches across all competitions.

This is largely because of the lack of goals in their side and being without arguably their biggest attacking threat for a Yorkshire derby is a concern.

It is also something which is very frustrating for the supporters of the club, who have been left annoyed by Drenthe's actions.

Here is the best reaction to the winger's sending off and performance on Twitter.
