Lille defender Simon Kjaer has praised Liverpool’s Divock Origi who is currently on loan at the Ligue 1 side.
Origi signed for the Reds in the summer for a reported £10million but having shone for Belgium during the World Cup the teenager remained in France rather than head straight to Anfield.
Given Mario Balotelli’s misfiring form and Origi’s four goals and two assists to date this season, some may question if that was the right move from Brendan Rodgers, but Kjaer believes in time Origi can be one of the very best.
In an interview with the Mirror, the Danish international said, “He could be a truly great player for Liverpool.
“Origi is one of the greatest talents I have ever played with in Italy, Germany or France. I have no doubt about his potential.”
The 19-year-old forward grasped his chance in Brazil during the summer having been surprisingly selected to join the likes of Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard in the Belgian squad; and while the Everton player faltered the youngster added energy and confidence to Marc Wilmots’ forward-line.
For now Liverpool fans will have to watch Origi from afar, but if his current teammate is to be believed, one day they will get to see one of the best forwards of his generation starring regularly for the Reds.
