Five Chelsea players who have struggled on loan this season

Players from La Liga, Eredivisie, Bundesliga, Serie A and the Greek Superleague all feature.

Chelsea have an abundance of players out on loan across the globe at the moment. Some are doing OK, such as Thorgan Hazard or Patrick Bamford, others have flashes of good and bad such as Victor Moses and Christian Atsu while others are truly struggling.

Here are five who are not cutting the mustard...

Mario Pasalic

Chelsea snapped up the Croatian in January, with a move finalised this summer.

Dubbed the 'Croatian Frank Lampard' for his ability to score from midfield, he very nearly made the Croatian national squad for the World Cup - such was his form at former club Hajduk Split.

He was loaned out to La Liga side Elche, where he was immediately thrust into the first team.

But he has since seen his playing time diminish and he now looks set for a bit-part role this season.

Marko Marin

The 'German Messi' has struggled throughout his Chelsea stay with injuries. He struggled again with the same issue at Sevilla last season, despite glimpses of his talent showing through sporadically.

This campaign he has managed just 12 minutes of football for Fiorentina as once again injury plagues him.

Tomas Kalas

After his performance in the game with Liverpool last season Czech Republic defender Kalas was expected to be a potential contender for first team football at Chelsea.

That was not the case, the arrival of Kurt Zouma seeing him loaned out to Bundesliga side FC Koln.

Expected to be a start, that has not been the case.

Kalas has not featured in the Bundesliga and is currently playing for their reserve team in Germany's fourth tier.

Josh McEachran

Another whose potential has long been lauded, but never truly come about. McEachran took a leap of faith and headed for Holland with Vitesse.

However it has been uneventful for him.

Just over 30 minutes of football, he can't buy a game, and this looks like being another unsuccessful loan spell for the Oxford lad.

Islam Feruz

The youngster has had a bumpy summer. He agreed a loan move to Russian side Krylia Sovetov, before changing his mind after one day and is now playing under Gennaro Gattuso in the Greek league for OFI Crete.

We say playing, he has barely featured for the club.
