Former Manchester United assistant manager Carlos Queiroz has been singing the praises of Wayne Rooney.
England international forward Rooney is widely considered as one of the best players in the world and had been earmarked for success ever since he was a teenager at Everton.
The 29-year-old has worked with a number of top managers in his career, including Sir Alex Ferguson, Fabio Capello and Louis van Gaal.
One of the football managers who has been left impressed with Rooney is Queiroz. The Portuguese was Ferguson’s assistant at United and worked with the Englishman.
In his managerial career, Queiroz has worked with a number of great footballers, including Cristiano Ronaldo, Zinedine Zidane and Luis Figo.
It seems that the 61-year-old rates Rooney as highly as them, and told the FourFourTwo magazine when asked who stands out among the players he has coached: ‘Zidane was magic. Ronaldo had so much potential.
'Figo always performed above the level he needed to. Roberto Carlos? Amazing. Raul? Clinical. David (Beckham)? Vision.
‘Rooney? Power and commitment and so much drive - to the point that he could lose focus. He could play in any position, including goalkeeper. He played there in training. How can I rate fantasy?’
Rooney’s commitment and endeavour has been noted by everyone who has ever worked with him. Even at 29, the England international remains as good as ever.
